Asleep on the tile

I am fairly certain that all that our dogs do during the day while we are away at work is sleep.  As point of evidence of this hypothesis, during the day on weekends our dogs are about the laziest creatures you could imagine.  You can usually find at least one of them asleep in their kennel.  Today, Scout found a nice sunny spot on the tile in the dining room to take a quick nap.

She stirred a bit after hearing the camera's shutters, but it took her about 0.5 nanosecond to get right back into her nap.

Meet Molly

Meet Molly.  She has recently joined the family as my husband's parents' puppy.  She is so full of energy and is just the cutest little thing!  She loves running in between legs and can hardly sit still.  Watch as she ducks under me...that tricky little thing!  They are working at getting her trained to control her excitement, but for now she is all puppy dog energy!

(The audio quality is not so great, but the video is cute nonetheless.)

Oh, these dogs...

I would venture to bet that most dogs are like mine...they don't know any tricks, they make messes and don't clean up after themselves, and they rarely give themselves a proper bath.  Yet, they always want a treat as if they have done all of those things.  And we relent, give them the treat.  Why?  Because they are just too dang funny for words!  My two dogs, Punky and Scout, are constantly play fighting with each other, making more noise than their little sizes should be able to make, and are always, always, always tracking in dirt, mud, grass, leaves, bugs, sticks, etc., etc., etc...  But they have one quality that outshines all of these terrible habits - they always make us smile.

So here is my latest item in the Etsy shop...a begging dog journal!  You need one of these, right?  :)

Punky in the sky

Our dogs are a tad bit spoiled.  They take full advantage of the situation as well, always wanting to be held.  They usually get their way, and you can see the happiness in their eyes as they survey the room from a shoulder.  Take a look at Punky, our resident lovey dog (Scout is a bit less social, unless you have food for her), as she perches on Hubby's shoulder.

Now, is that a happy dog or what?  (We will not comment on the state of Punky's fur.)

Snow Day

The great winter storm affecting the western half of the country dropped a few inches of snow in our area yesterday.  Our little country road was too difficult for our car to manage, so we stayed home and enjoyed the beautiful landscape.  The garbage service did not even run, the postal service worked a limited route, and area schools were closed. Even tow trucks were having a rough time! We could literally count the number of cars that drove down our road.  I only remember it snowing two or three times the whole time I grew up here.  It has snowed every winter we have been back from Seattle and we have now been back over 2 and a half years now.  What I would have given for snow days as a kid!

The dogs enjoyed the snow, especially little Punky who looks likes to hop around and dig her nose in the snow.  We are up to three dogs this weekend - our two (Punky and Scout) and a friend's dog (Marley).  Marley is a labradoodle and is twice as tall as our largest dog Scout, and our dogs don't know what to do with such a giant of a dog.

I used part of the day to work on some new necklace designs that incorporate the same designs from my new hand carved stamps.  So far, I have added the loblolly pine and the hello fox to the necklace designs - I think they look great so far!  They are still a work in progress.
